iThemes Launching WordPress Plugins Store
I wrote a detailed post over on my blog talking about the Need for a Premium WordPress Plugin Market after my recent trip to WordCamp Boston.
I state two things:
- The need is great
- The time is right
Although iThemes has been in the premium WordPress plugin for almost a year now with our Billboard ad plugin, we will be officially launching a dedicated WordPress plugin store later this month under the new PluginBuddy.com brand.
Dustin Bolton, our newest team member, will be driving this project. He brings a wealth of experience to the table and we’re THRILLED to be announcing the first plugins very, very soon.

Hello Corey, I watched your recording of the Tuesday Live Webinar. I do have a question for Dustin, how is his new back-up manager any different than the WP DB Manager by WordPress? The reason I ask is because, when I tried to merge my existing theme to a Builder theme, only the content was transported, and ALL the sidebar widgets were placed at the bottom of the widget page as widgets to be re-assigned. Would this plugin act as a full back-up as if you would want to transfer that particular theme with full layouts to another, because I was able to restore all my information which some were lost during the migration process from the existing theme to builder, and I almost fricked out!!!!!!!!! Luckily I had just backed up my WP DB Manager before, and restored it to my last session, and fully recovered. Please clarify, if possible!

The new backup & migration system, BackupBuddy will solve the problem you encountered using other methods of backup. All of your settings, customizations, comments, and other data will be backed up for easy restore or migration to another site. This includes your widgets, their locations, themes, styles, and content. Another improvement over those other tools is that the migration allows you to move your site to a new web host and even a new domain if you like!
