Support tech Josh Benham shows how to restore an unzipped backup. This is a work-around for importbuddy.php’s inability to automatically unzip backups.
If this sounds intimidating, it’s not. Josh’s explanation makes restoring your unzipped backup in just a few, simple steps. In fact, once you get started, much of the process is guided by on-screen steps. Josh shows you how to navigate those steps in a matter of minutes.

Remember, before restoring from an unzipped backup, you need three things:
- all site files
- the .zip backup file
- importbuddy.php</li

Thank you back up buddy – I never thought I’d see the day when I would not only delete the wrong directory but also the database of my blog.
Although I backed up over a month ago within minutes after creating a new database I’m up and running thanks to backup buddy. A seamless and very easy program to use even for a non-techie.
Thanks a million.
Thanks for the feedback, Steve! And glad you are back up and running.
I cannot get past step 1 of 6, it is displaying a message saying the backup file does not exist.
“ERROR: Unable to find any BackupBuddy ZIP files. Upload the BackupBuddy ZIP file into the same directory as this file, keeping the original file name. If you manually extracted, upload the backup ZIP, select it above, then select Advanced Troubleshooting Options & click Skip Zip Extraction.”
When I go to the error troubleshooting options and select skip this step as instructed in this video it does not display the button to move onto the next step. I also cannot log onto my WordPress Control Panel. Can you help me?
Am I missing something, is there suppose to be a video? I am on Chrome and nothing is showing in the tutorial. This is all I see

The tutorial appears to be missing. Likewise, when I follow the link from the codex that is supposed to tell me how to manually unzip the backup file, I can’t find any tutorials that actually show that.
Please fix. I’m running into this issue trying to migrate my site to a different host.
