YOURLS, by Lester Chan and Ozh Richards, is an extremely easy-to-use and install URL shortener. It allows you to set up a domain and use it as a URL shortener.
We recently set up our own internal URL shortener and needed a way to dynamically generate short links from a post or page. Here’s an example one we have for PluginBuddy: http://ithem.es/pb
There’s already a useful plugin for generating short links automatically as posts are published, which is YOURLS: WordPress to Twitter.
Our latest free plugin, PluginBuddy YOURLS, compliments this plugin by allowing users to insert any short links into a post or page. It taps into your existing YOURLS installation and dynamically generates short links for insertion.
