Earlier this year we launched the Friends of iThemes to our customer community as a way to connect our customers with the “inside scoop” about everything going on at iThemes.
The Friends of iThemes graciously gave us their photos to help decorate our office walls (you may have already seen the installation of the “Friends of iThemes” wall on the blog last month) and we thought it would also be cool to celebrate some of their amazing stories.
From finally opening their own businesses or launching their first website to other unexpected accomplishments that have totally inspired us, we’ve been really proud to have helped partner in their success. They’ve inspired us, so we know they’ll inspire you, too.
So, we’re proud to announce a new series of posts to the blog based on their stories, the Friends of iThemes Stories. Enjoy!
This week’s Friend of iThemes is the amazing Bonnie Burtraw. We met Bonnie in person a few weeks ago at the Builder Bonanza (a live event hosted by WebDesign.com) and sat down with Bonnie to catch up and hear her story.
Bonnie knows no boundaries. In 2010, Bonnie lost an incredible 65lbs. But this achievement wasn’t enough—it soon became clear that Bonnie wanted to share her success with others by coaching friends (heck, even strangers) on how they could do the same through focus and healthy living.
She told us: “I just wanted to help people do what I did, and it soon became clear that I needed a website.” Bonnie had always been interested in blogging and recalls a time when websites were a totally mystery.
Not sure where to begin, she first tackled a 600 page book on HTML coding, but knew there had to be an easier way. She soon started researching using WordPress as a website CMS and exploring theme companies that provided solutions for flexible websites, but realized many of these themes had limitations.
She found iThemes and soon discovered our Builder theme. She did a little more research into our company, and decided to make the leap. She jumped all in, tackling her first website. And six months later, she has a full-fledged membership site to promote a community of members, all committed to their health.
You can do it! It’s not easy and having the website isn’t the end. But the key is finding the right people who are willing to show you.
Go, Bonnie! We’re proud to have helped.
