Today we’re pumped to release Noise, a new responsive-ready Builder child theme and a brand new plugin for iThemes Builder, Builder Audio Block.
View the live demo
Designed with musicians and bands in mind, Builder now makes it easy to create a WordPress band website with a “built-in” audio player, a way to display albums or discographies, a list of upcoming shows and support for music downloads/purchases with Easy Digital Downloads.
Introducing Builder Audio Block
Builder’s Audio Block is a new plugin for iThemes Builder that allows you to add music or audio files (mp3s or OGG files) to your WordPress site to be displayed in a built-in audio player. This is really great for creating a discography of albums, music mixes or even podcasts.
The audio player can then be displayed in widget areas or via short codes to content areas in posts or pages. You can also display these playlists in an archive view (like the Albums page from the demo).
After installation from Plugins > Add New, Builder Audio Block adds a new menu for managing your audio files and playlists. Just upload your audio files (support formats include mp3 or OGG), add an optional iTunes link and description. You’ll also see options to show in archive, show all songs (hidden by default in the player), grab the player shortcode and add a featured image (like album artwork).

To help you get started with Builder Audio Block, we created a new Getting Started with Builder Audio Block video tutorial. This video covers what you need to know to add your audio files and display them on your site:
Note: Builder Audio Block can be used with any Builder child theme, but Noise adds additional features (such as the archive view) and styles for the Audio Block.
Noise Theme Features
Builder Child Noise features several new-to-Builder design and functionality elements that you’ve requested, including:
New Full Window and No Spacing Image Module Styles
Noise features new alternate module styles for images, including Full Window (or full width) and No Spacing. These new module styles for images can be added anywhere in your Builder Layout.
From Builder Edit Layout page, just select the image module, upload your image and then select the image module style.
To see how the full-width image module looks, check out the Image Header Layout page from the demo. For this page, the image used as the header is using the full-width image module style, followed by a navigation and content module.
Post Formats Styles
Ever wanted to post a quick status update or just a link? Noise includes new post format styles that add a Tumblr like feel for your blog. From the Add New Post Page, you’ll see a new option to apply a format to the post, including standard, status, video, link or image.
Just check out the Noise Blog from the demo to see examples of the post formats. They’re indicated with “Image,” “Status” or “Link” above the entry.
Events Block Styling
To make it easy to include upcoming shows, Noise includes matching styles for Builder Events Block. To see how these look, you can check out from the Upcoming Shows page on the Noise demo.
Learn How to Build the Demo
Join the Professor from WebDesign.com tomorrow, March 12 @ 11am CST for iThemesTV. He’ll be walking through how the Noise demo site was constructed using iThemes Builder, Builder child Noise, Builder Events Block and Builder Audio Block.
