A new Builder theme has just arrived: Base. Whether you’re a WordPress beginner or an advanced developer, we think you’ll appreciate some of the new-to-Builder features included in Base.
WordPress Core Customizer Integration
Many Builder users have requested an easier way to add an image to the header and to change the footer text. Base includes integration with the WordPress core customizer tools—a totally new feature for Builder themes.
Easily Add Images to the Header
From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Appearance > Header. From here, you can customize your header’s background image.
Include a Menu and Search Bar in the Header
Again from the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Appearance > Customize. From the menu on the left, expand the Navigation section. Base includes an option to include a menu and search bar in the header.
Customize Footer Text
Expand the Footer section. From here, you can change the left and right footer text.
New Theme-Specific Layouts
The recent Builder 5.0 update allowed us to pre-package Layouts with themes, making it easier to recreate the demo sites.
Base includes 9 new theme-specific Layouts, including several for your Exchange pages:
- Exchange – Account Pages
- Exchange – Cart
- Exchange – Confirmation
- Exchange – Product
- Exchange – Store
To use these Layouts, install Builder Base and then select “Use the Layouts and Views included with the theme” during the second step of Builder Setup.
Built with LESS
LESS extends CSS with dynamic behavior such as variables, mix-ins, operations and functions. Base is built using LESS, giving developers an idea of how to build a Builder theme with LESS. Check out this post: Using LESS and a Minified Stylesheet in Builder Theme Base.
