iThemes Security Crosses 2 Million Downloads

iThemes is very excited to celebrate 2 million downloads of iThemes Security (formerly Better WP Security). This plugin was developed to address several issues: increase in security concern of the iThemes customer community and WordPress community, increase in brute force attacks across the board in 2013, as well as Cory Miller’s personal site getting hit.

iT Security 2M downloads!iThemes is very excited to celebrate 2 million downloads of iThemes Security (formerly Better WP Security).

This plugin was developed to address several issues: increase in security concern of the iThemes customer community and WordPress community, increase in brute force attacks across the board in 2013, as well as Cory Miller’s personal site getting hit. Cory downloaded Better WP Security and liked the results so much, he actually teamed up with the plugin’s dev, Chris Wiegman to bring the plugin into the iThemes family. Over the course of the next several months, Better WP Security evolved into iThemes Security.

Some of the highlighted features include:
  • The ability to prevent usernames from being discovered by forcing a unique nickname that is different from the username and by hiding the author archives with users who do not have a post.

  • Voluntary data collection via Google Analytics to help us make iThemes Security even better.

  • The ability to add multiple reporting email addresses for backups and notifications.

  • Hide Login (or Hide Backend) setting.

  • Full integration with BackupBuddy.

We’re grateful so many users trust iThemes Security as their security solution; and we’re happy to share this milestone with the iThemes customer community. Thanks for 2 million downloads!

Download iThemes Security Side-note: I’m pretty ecstatic this is my debut blog. It’s very cool for my first post on iThemes.com to be in celebration of 2 millions downloads!
