A Roadmap for WordPress Developers
By Cory Miller • November 4, 2008Our backend developer (aka Code Monkey) Chris Jean has developed a cool resource website that is designed to help WordPress developers understand how WP works.
It’s called WP-Roadmap. And in the short time, it’s been out, Automattic’s Andy Skelton has already linked to it.
Here’s what Chris had to say about it:
WP Roadmap is a project started out of my desire to get more information about the organization of the internal calls that WordPress makes. By organizing the list of calls by the order in which they are executed, WP Roadmap aims to create a detailed view of how WordPress works.
The code currently tracks actions, filters, includes, and requires. WP Roadmap can track the order of these calls from different page views and different versions of WordPress. If anyone has other items that they would like me to add in, please let me know.
In the last week he’s also done some major updates, which you can track here.
If you’re a hard-core theme or plugin developer, bookmark this site, subscribe to the feed and help out.
This is just one of the great ways I’ve seen our team pitching in (on their own time) to help improve WordPress and benefit the community! In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be unveiling some other ways to give back to WP.
