Barack Obama Has No Search Box
By Kevin • June 25, 2008by Kevin D. Hendricks
It’s not enough to simply make great content available on your site. It also has to be findable. If people can’t find your stuff, how will they know it’s so great?
I recently visited the website for presidential candidate Barack Obama with a very specific question. Nowadays candidate’s websites are chock full of information. It’s practically overwhelming.
I immediately went looking for a search box—and came up with nothing. The site had no search box! The most basic way to find information and they didn’t have one. All that great content that explained Obama’s positions and probably answered my question wasn’t going to be found.
Make sure your content is findable.
WordPress has a built-in search engine, offers categories and tags to organize your content and has search engine optimization features that make your content easier to find. Most good themes will take advantage of these features, so you should never have to make a mistake like not having a search box.
