Hi hammerofpompeywe,
Just wanted to let you know that we actually snuck this option in over the summer. You can find in in setting by going to Exchange --> Add-ons and clicking the gear icon next to Simple Taxes after its been enabled.

Hi hammerofpompey,

As you said, there currently isn't a setting were you change what that reads.  That has been added as a feature request, but I don't have a timeline for when it will be added.

In the meantime, you can edit the files.  Technically, you won't edit the files, you'll create new ones.  You'll copy the current files and then place them in wp-content/themes/{yourtheme}/exchange/{template files}). In addition, you can copy the exchange.css file from ithemes-exchange/lib/assets/styles/ to that same exchange folder in your themes folder and rename it style.css. That way, you have created your own "exchange theme" and any modifications will not be overwritten when you update the exchange plugin (which is the case now).

So basically you'll copy the template files from /wp-content/plugins/ithemes-exchange/core-addons/taxes/taxes-simple/templates into the new location you created.  Then, in those files, you'll find where "Tax" would be printed and change it to VAT (or whatever you'd like it to read).

For example, I did this in /wp-content/plugins/ithemes-exchange/core-addons/taxes/taxes-simple/templates/super-widget-checkout/loops/taxes-simple.php.  You can see where on line 19, it says Tax.

I changed that to read VAT and now in my Super Widget area, when some goes to checkout, it reads VAT instead of Tax:

I also did this in wp-content/plugins/ithemes-exchange/core-addons/taxes/taxes-simple/templates/content-cart/elements/totals-taxes-simple.php (line 22) so it shows VAT when they view cart instead of Tax.

Again, you don't actually want to change these files, you'll copy them and create a new location for them as I mentioned before.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

Elise

As I am registered for sales Tax (VAT in the UK) I have enabled Simple Tax and set it to 20%  That is fine and the basket adds this to the overall price.  However, I would like to change the "name" from Tax, to VAT, but currently the "tax" field name appears not to be editable from the admin page.  Can it be done elsewhere and if so how?  Tnx Robin.  PS in ie10 on WIn 8 I am unable to insert a line break in this post!
