Replying to Backup Locations

Do you by chance have a demo or trial version of the backup buddy plugin we can try and see if we can make work before committing to purchasing?

Thanks for your enquiry.

The backup directory path where backups are _created_ is currently not customizable. However, once created backups can be manually or automatically transferred to offsite destinations (where "offsite" means not within the directory structure of the site installation) such as an ftp server, Amazon S3, etc. The capabilities of such offsite destinations vary so if you have any specific requirements in relation to any supported destination type as defined in the current product literature you may wish to seek additional guidance.

With regard to your specific enquiry - some Customers use FTP transfer to move backups to an "offsite" destination that may actually still be within their hosting account directory structure (if the host allows the use of disk space for this purpose).

If you have a more specific requirement and the necessary expertise and server capability then approaches such as periodic shell script execution to move backup files is also an option - although as you may understand this is not something that we can provide any specific support for.

We are looking at your back up plugin as a solution for backing up our wordpress websites, but our IT guy has a question regarding saving the back up files.

His questions is this...
"ask the vendor if they support backing up to a shared windows folder (via UNC path, e.g, \\192.168.2.2\SharedBackupFolder, instead of C:\LocalBackupFolder)."
