To confirm, I do this all the time. I even check the validity of my backups on a regular basis by creating a new site in my Web Host Manager and restoring the backup to that domain. It's also great since it goes through and updates domain URLs within posts and pages (I think).

Hi Dan,
Yes BackupBuddy can do both of those.
Here is a video of someone going through a sample migration.
The BackupBuddy getting started codex page (has a long video about BackupBuddy there)
Importbuddy's codex page to show the steps a migration/restore goes through
Thanks,

I'm interested in using Backup Buddy and curious if it would perform the following task.
I usually develop WordPress sites in a sub-folder called "Dev" and make it a subdomain through-out Development (dev.sitename.com). This keeps the production site running while I develop the new site. So when it comes time to go live I move the "Dev" folder to the Production folder, but all my links and graphics still are referencing the dev.sitename.com in the Wordpress database.
Would Backup Buddy work in this scenario to:
1) Move the "Dev" folder files to the production folder
2) Update the database links and graphics from dev.sitename.com to sitename.com in the Wordpress database?
Thanks for your help!
