Let's take the Expansion theme for an example because you said that it would be the most versatile. The demo shows three feature areas/boxes. I think you should choose the design that appeals to you best. Expansion, a Builder child theme, or any Builder child theme will offer maximum flexibility. You could add a module just anywhere on the page, and add the code to create the 6 feature boxes. That could be a widget module, or an html module.

If you are referring to "which theme has 6 separate WordPress widget areas side by side", none of them do. However, one widget can hold the code for 1, 2, 6 or 10 of these boxes,

I'm doing a site for someone who wants six feature boxes on her homepage, similar to the ones on this site that say Presentation Skills, Personal Impact, etc. Themes under consideration are:

B Social http://bsocial.ithemes.com/

iCompany http://icompany.ithemes.com/

All four themes show feature boxes, but before I purchase one for her I want to make sure that I can do the six she wants.
