If you are referring to "which theme has 6 separate WordPress widget areas side by side", none of them do. However, one widget can hold the code for 1, 2, 6 or 10 of these boxes.

Please bear with me if I seem dense. The more I work with WP the more I learn. This is my first time considering purchasing a theme; previously I've just worked with the free themes available on wordpress.org.
Let's take the Expansion theme for an example because you said that it would be the most versatile. The demo shows three feature areas/boxes. Is the ability to display those boxes "built in" to the theme? From looking at some of the alternative layouts it appears that it is (the "widget widths" layout shows up to five columns, but you said I could do more), but I just want to make sure before I spend someone else's money.
