Replying to Synch Wamp Home Dev And Production Site

Hi Rvansteenberg,

I don't have any suggestions on good systems for syncing sites like that. There might not even be a good one yet out there, though I don't know so maybe there is. Syncing sites would mean keeping track of all changes on the site and which parts to ignore etc, it doesn't sound like it would be the most fun thing to make though could be useful.

BackupBuddy doesn't sync two sites or do incremental backups. A backup created by BackupBuddy is a copy of the site when the backup was made and if someone migrated/restored with that (full) backup then it would put in that destination location the copy of the site as it is in the backup. And naturally the same thing for database-only backups but for the database only instead of all files and folder (including database) with a full backup.

So if you/someone created a backup of a dev site, then migrated it to another location the two sites would be separate sites and not connected to each other.

A migrate and a restore are essentially the same thing but is a difference in terminology, they both go through the same processes but for a migration it is implied that the source site address and the destination site address are different. While for a restore the source site and destination site are the same (since someone would probably be restoring the site back to how it was in the backup after the site went down or got broke).

Does backup buddy allow for synching of wamp home dev and production sites. is this the "restore" mode. if only one or two file change does backup buddy recopy the whole site or does it know what changed or do i have to keep track and switch between db and files or just db or files?
