Replying to Download Links Not Working

So it looks like the issue is the http loopbacks, which I was afraid of! I did talk to the developers and they recommended using some place to store the products, which should fix the issue. So, for instance, you could store the downloads in Dropbox or Amazon S3, and then instead of using the Media Library in your site, you’d copy the links from wherever you are storing into the Product Files Source section. So, for example, I downloaded one of the files from your site, added it to my Dropbox and copied the link, pasting it in the Source section for the Product Files on the free product you'd created. Now, when I try to download the product, the download works just fine.
I know this is a little tedious, but with your host not allowing http loopbacks, this is the best solution. That or finding another hosting solution!

Can you send me a coupon code that would make one of your products free? Or can you create a free product and hide it from your store (http://ithemes.com/codex/page/Adding_Products_in_Exchange, step 6)? That will allow me to go through the purchase process and download at the end of the purchase, test the accounts page, etc. You can PM the coupon code or link to me here on the forum or email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Just be sure to include a link to this post so I know what the message is in regards to.

There is a setting, allow_url_fopen, which needs to be on, but is sometimes set to off by the host. Some server companies let you change this yourself, but you may need to contact your host and have them change it for you.
If your hosting company allows you to make this change on your own, you'd go into your FTP where you should see a php.ini file. In it, you should see the allow_url_fopen option. Change the setting to on, then save and re-FTP the file.
Give that a try and then let us know how it goes.

I've got my site up and running but when I put a test order through, all went fine until clicking on the download link, which brings up the error:
'Download Error: couldn't connect to host'
The uploaded file itself is fine as if I link directly to this it downloads no problem, however I can see your system changes the file to your own link along the lines of ?it-exchange-download=13851443199608528f9fffea967.
I've tried 5 different products now and it is the same error for all of them. The site hosting is fine and the products are uploaded directly to the site.
Could you please tell me what this might be caused by and how to fix it? The site was meant to go live today so it's a bit stressful when it was all so close to being done!
