Nope, just Exchange, but we aren't doing that posting on their profiles, we're doing some other strange things :). But after spending a considerable amount of hours dug deeply into the Exchange code base, I'm pretty sure you could to that all in Exchange -- with a lot of custom code.

Wow, so you're not even using BuddyPress? I'm trying to decide between iThemes Exchange and s2member at the moment. I love iThemes stuff, but I know Exchange is one of their newer products.

Hey Theatereleven,

We're using iThemes Exchange with the membership plugin to do something in similar complexity to that. The plugin is quite extensible and robust, so if you want to get your hands dirty with code, it is certainly possible.

Cheers,

Timothy

Okay cool. Thanks for taking the time to answer in detail! Can't tell you how much I love Backup Buddy. Thanks for great products!

Hi theatereleven,

Thanks for your interest in Exchange and the Membership Add-on.

Unfortunately, what you're wanting to do isn't a possibility in Exchange at this time.  When users register on the site, they are made subscribers, so they do not have the ability to make edits.  And, while users do have a Profile page, it is where they make changes to their information and is only visible to them.  The option to assign a specific WordPress user role based on the membership purchased (or given to the customer) has been added as a feature request which you can vote for on the Exchange Roadmap.  This ability would help fulfill your needs, but I don't have a timeline for if/when this would be added.

And no offense taken at your comparison of Exchange and BuddyPress.  :)  We know and understand that you're just searching for the plugin that will best suit your needs and see no reason to be offended for that.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

Elise

Hey WP pro's - got a question regarding a big site challenge:

Situation: Need to build a site for 1000+ members with profile pages. Imagine a company where each salesman has their own page. The profile pages will allow them to post information, links, videos, etc. on a single page with their own url off the site. I also need logged in members to have access to other areas of the site based on their membership level.

Question: Do I use the Exchange membership plugin, or something like BuddyPress? No offense to iThemes for comparing them, that's not the point. I LOVE what I've used from iThemes so far for my WordPress sites.

I need people need to be able to register, fill out their own info, upload their own pics...all of that stuff without me being involved while also creating their own URL on the site (ie http://www.mysite.com/bill-thompson). I'm worried that a membership plugin might not be able to do it, but if one could, that would be less weight than BuddyPress probably.

Really appreciate any feedback!
