I downloaded the free Notepade theme and uploaded the zip file as instructed via WP. I got the following error messages
Warning: fopen(/home/practica/public_html/wp-content/themes/Notepad/style.css) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in/home/practica/public_html/wp-includes/functions.phpon line4165
Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in/home/practica/public_html/wp-includes/functions.phpon line4168
Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in/home/practica/public_html/wp-includes/functions.phpon line4171
I can't preview the theme with my site.
I don't mind tinkering with code if you can give me instructions.

Hi,
either not all the theme files are uploaded, or not all WordPress files are. Try reuploading WordPress, and upload the theme files using FTP.
If that doesn't help, check your server settings, install, activate and run our Serverbuddy plugin (http://pluginbuddy.com/free-wordpress-plugins/serverbuddy/) and check your server environment (wp-dashboard > Serverbuddy > Server analysis, from the dropdown select "General server check" and "WordPress and Server security",
