What is the best way to update your plugins?

I have style manager, back up buddy, email buddy and several others. Can I just copy and overwrite these through file zilla? Thanks

Using Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades Plugin.

Yes, although using Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades Plugin is recommended because it automatically takes a backup of plugin/theme being updated.
