Hello,

BackupBuddy looks amazing. I'm quite interested in trying it out. However, I do have one question regarding the site migration feature in the application. WordPress & some plugins often store option data as serialized strings in the DB. Does BackupBuddy properly unserialize, edit and reserialize any file or domain paths that might be stored this way?

Thanks for the feedback!

DaveE

Hi Dave,

yes, that is where BackupBuddy stands out from many other "backup-only" solutions. It can duplicate a site in it's entirety to another domain. Without the ability un/de/re-serialize, BackupBuddy would not be able to migrate a site fully, so that is part of the functionality.

If you have any other inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask, and you may also wish to check out the Codex articles on BackupBuddy,
Ronald

Hi,

except that in contrario of many other scripts, if your settings do require a 'home' adress different of the 'siteurl' address, it would not currently work.

It seems it needs serious improvement on that subject. read it here (http://ithemes.com/forum/index.php?/topic/15888-backupbuddy-working-when-wordpress-address-is-different-from-the-site-address-general-settings/).

If you buy it and test it, would it please post back your experience here.

Potentially interested to buy it too, if only this could be fixed or working...

@Pro WP dev,

We actually added functionality for that in the latest version. So it actually does handle that now. Which the way wordpress has it setup made it a little difficult.... but im sure they have reasoning for it Posted Image
