Thanks for posting about this! Unless some other plugin adds this into compatibility with AEC, AEC currently shows the HTML code when editing the comments.
You can test and try AEC yourself via the trials to check it out more also: http://trials.ithemes.com Simply choose Ajax Edit Comments on that page, and you'll get a full fledged complete installation of AEC to play with.
