I'm fairly new to the Wordpress world and found Backup Buddy through Headway Themes. In looking through the Backup Buddy info, I see that I have the ability to migrate a site, which is wonderful.  Here is my question, which may be very basic:  how do I create a Wordpress site that I can use for development (and not have the world see it yet) and then migrate it so that it's live?  I already have a domain name for the site (it's an existing website and I am going to rebuild it from scratch using Headway).  I want the existing website to stay live until I'm ready to publish the new site. How do I go about doing this?

Many thanks from a newbie!

Donna

moving this to the pre-sales forum.

And the simple answer is:

Step 1: Develop your site locally
Step 2. Backup using backupbuddy,
Step 3. Restore using backupbuddy,

For detailed technical support, please sign into the forum with your username and password, and post in the BackupBuddy support forum, it is beyond the scope of our pre-sales section.

hope it helps though,
Ronald

Ronald,

I tried to post in the support forum but it will not accept my user name and password.  My user name and password logs me in to my member panel with no problem (I can see my invoice and my downloads) but when I try to go to the Support Forum, the same user name and password won't work.

I had the same issue logging in.  I purchased Backup Buddy specifically to help me migrate pre-made sites so I wouldn't have to configure each one manually. Please help.  My account is discipleshipmedia, or you can email me at rob (at) usd21 (dot) org.

@Guest_Rob Onekea,

your forum account appears to be fine, you should use the same name and password you use on the membership page,

does that not work?
