Can I Use Backup Buddy To Migrate A Blog From Wordpress.com To A Hostgator Wordpress Setup?

I have a client who wants to move their blog over from WordPress.com to their own domain and server hosted at HostGator.com.

Will Backup Buddy enable me to migrate easily?

Hi Tim

BackupBuddy is not designed for use in this scenario.

You can find details about how to make such a move on the WordPress.com Support site: http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

Please note that they do offer a (paid for) service for such a move which your client might like to take advantage of.

Of course once the site is moved then you can use BackupBuddy for your backup needs on the new site.
