Re: BackupBuddy -

We plan to use it to migrate development site to separate production directory.

1) Want to confirm that BB allows us to specify the restore directory

2) If that directory contains preexisting files/directories, will BB erase those before restoring to that directory?

Or will those preexisting items be retained, assuming they're not identically named like WP files and directories?

Hi Lucy,

1. Yes. The restore/migrate directory will be wherever you upload the backup .zip file and the importbuddy.php file.

2. BackupBuddy won't overwrite any files if there are any with the same name as the ones in the backup. It certainly won't erase anything not related to the restore or migrate. Also worth noting; this means for a restore or a migration there needs to not already be a WordPress installation at the location the new site is being migrated to. Same for the database though there are some different options with it instead of making a new blank one each time (such as using a new prefix or choosing the option to wipe the database upon import).

Thanks,

I keep running into this error.

Error #224834. This directory is not write enabled. Please verify write permissions to continue.

I have set it the folder to 777, 775, 755 and 666. I get the same error everytime.

What am I missing.

Thanks
George
