Developing on WAMP server on Windows XP. Want to move to Dreamhost.
Serverbuddy shows Dreamhost ok.
Serverbuddy on local WAMP server shows warnings for zip methods (ziparchive, pclzip), OS (WINNT) and file permissions for wp files on local computer (777 rather than 755). I don't know how to change those locally.
Does that preclude my using backupbuddy?
Do I need to create another database for the Dreamhost subdirectory and then ftp there?
Thanks! I'm new to all this!

Hi Algis,
You can use BackupBuddy on your local server.
The warning for the having windows and ziparchive/pclzip means instead of running in the faster modes of native command zip BackupBuddy would run in the slower compatibility mode. With Linux the faster would be having exec() enabled, for windows you can get a zip.exe and an unzip.exe and set them up with the windows server to run in the fast mode.
File permissions are recommended to be 755 as it is safer than 777 but it will still work with 777.
Is the Dreamhost subdirectory you mention if you can't use localhost or is that the final destination of the development site building on wamp? Either way can work.
Thanks,
-Akers

Hi Algis,
Yes BackupBuddy can work with developing on the localhost and then migrating to a subdirectory. It would follow the same migration procedures of not needing a WordPress installation already at the destination site and a database ready to be updated. It being in a subdirectory wouldn't need any special care.
Thanks,
-Akers
