Is it possible to use Backup Buddy to restore a Wordpress site using a backup file (folder) that has not been created using Backup Buddy? If so, is it the same process or is it a lot more complicated?

Hi Elaine
Not this is not possible. To use the restore/migrate tool requires that the backup zip archive file contains information encoded into the backup at the time is was taken.
It is however possible to restore a site from a BackupBuddy backup without necessarily using the specific restore/migrate tool although this does require a little more work on the part of the user and is not something that we specifically support so you need the correct technical expertise to be able to do this.
I hope this gives you the information you need but please feel free to ask for any additional clarification, thanks.
Regards...jeremy
