What is the best way to migrate to new server with the same domain and keep my website alive all the time?

Hi Roman,

Yes, but not the easiest or simplest thing to do.

Someone can set their hosts file on their computer to point the domain to the new server's IP address, use BackupBuddy to restore on the new server, and then change the DNS to point to the new server. That would give zero downtime then.

Thanks,

This is what I'm trying to do but it's not accepting the IP address. Note: the IP address I was told to use includes /~username/ Does that make a difference? I've tried it with and without the username but it's not working.

I'm moving a site from GoDaddy to Hostgator using the same domain name.
