Hi there,

I am interested in purchasing backupbuddy and want to know if all the subdomains I have - and will have - under my main domain at hostgator will also be backed up or not. Currently, I have three subdomains under my main domain and will mostly reach five. I don't want to lose any of the sites I am running but don't want to end up losing everything after I install your plugin. Can you guarantee that it works smoothly.

Best,
Bora

P.S: Truly sorry if a similar query has been asked and answered before.

Hi Bora,

The short answer is yes it will back up them all.

The longer answer is that BackupBuddy will try to back up everything that it can see (except for what you have told it to exclude in its Settings page), so it will catch the subdomains. However that isn't the recommended setup for BackupBuddy. The preferred setup is to have BackupBuddy installed on each of them individually and then to have the subdomains excluded from the main domain's backups. For some servers/hosts the combined size of multiple sites being backed up at once increases the chance of things such as timeout if all of the additional sites are large. Then can have each subdomain make its own backup.

Thanks,
