FAQ states that Backup Buddy is only supported on Windows for LOCAL development which would seem completely useless.  Is this strictly because most users don't own and control their Windows Server and have no access to the Desktop (LogMeIn / TeamViewer / VMWAre Console / RDP) - which we do - to adjust permissions and perhaps install a command line version of a Zip program?

We use two different WAMP Stacks: Bitnami and Wamp Developer Pro ( devside.net ).

If I have 100% Root and Administrative Desktop control, is there any reason why Backup Buddy should not work for a PRODUCTION site?  We use a variety of other Backup Plugin's that seem to work without issue.  Backup Buddy just looks a little cleaner.

Eagerly awating your reply as we would like to take advantage of the 30% June 30th 2012 discount.

Thank you,

Jason Palmer.

Hi Jason

Thanks for your enquiry. Many customers do site development on a local (desktop) development server and then use BackupBuddy to migrate their work to live (commercial) server environments - so the capability is quite useful for them :-)

Certainly BackupBuddy has and does work under a Windows environment but the server differences, for example between IIS and it's many versions and Apache, are much greater than between, say Apache and Nginx under Linux and also as you mention often it is the case that the commercial Windows server environments may not be so controllable by the Customer.

Of course it may well be the case that you have your own much more controlled and stable environment and should you wish to use BackupBuddy in your environment we would of course be quite happy for you to do so if you feel it will provide you with the functionality that you require.

If you would like to use BackupBuddy then please contact sales@ithemes.com with and include a link to this topic and I am sure they will be able to help you with a good deal as you did enquire prior to the expiry of the offer, thanks.

Regards...jeremy
