I recently had the "pleasure" of experiencing the joys of a hacked web site, something which really irks me since I'm so anal about security. They were able to compromise my site by somehow gaining server access (shared hosting ) and planting a rogue javascript. Fortunately I detected it before Google did.

I was having major problems with that host anyway and this was the last straw for me. I packed my bags and moved to another host. Because of BackupBuddy I was able to get all of my sites up and running in a fraction of the time that it would have otherwise taken.

As a precaution, I carefully scanned through the various SQL, XML and custom theme files looking for anything suspicious while deleting everything else. The intruders actually hid the rogue javascript somewhere in the Home Directory above the Web Root but I wanted to be sure.

Anyway to make a long story short BackupBuddy was a HUGE time saver. To anyone contemplating purchasing the plugin I say go for it. Even if you never use it, it is money well spent. Think of it as an insurance policy.
