I understand that there are certain limitations when using DropBox with Backup Buddy. Before we purchase, can you please outline these limitations for us. Do they affect restore? backup? migration?

Thank you,

Ben

Hi Ben,

The limitation with Dropbox is the size of the file you can transfer into it.  It does not effect the backups themselves, so you can still use the backup for a restore, backup and migration.

When you make a backup of your site, you can send that backup to a remote location, including Dropbox.  The online Dropbox API has a 150MB limit, so if it is lower than 150MB, you should be able to send your backups to Dropbox without any problem.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Elise

Is that 150MB per file or per full backup?

Does BackupBuddy transfer zipped backups or individual files one at a time?

Thanks

Hi Ben,

That's per backup file.  BackupBuddy creates a zipped backup of your site and will send that to the remote destination of your choice.

Thanks,

Elise

OK, thank you. So Dropbox is not a good option for larger sites.

Hi Ben,

Using Amazon S3 might be a better option for larger sites, which is also an available remote destination when using BackupBuddy.

Thanks,

Elise
