Hi there

We purchased Builder in December 2010 and are looking to upgrade to the latest version now.

I am trying to understand what the best option is for us, Developer Pack or Foundation.

We have various child themes from 2011 but are they compatible with the latest Builder, and is it actually worth using them with the latest Builder if they are compatible?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I guess this depends on the child themes you most frequently use. Builder has seen major updates since 2010, version 3 and most recently version 4, which facilitates full responsive design and behaviour. All our most recent child themes will be responsive as well, yet older child themes need to be updated to be responsive. Here is a list of responsive ready child themes, both new and existing ones (basically, all theme version 4 and up are responsive).

But Builder is backwards compatible, updating Builder (parent) but not updating the child themes should work fine. These child themes will however not be responsive, and lack various other new features that we have added to Builder over the past 2.5 years (see the release notes).

I hope this helps, if you need help with your purchase, you can always contact sales@ithemes.com, for more technical information, don't hesitate to ask here on the forum,

Ronald
