I'm excited about the new ecommerce plugin. And it looks like it's only for digital products. is that correct?

Will there be an addition for physical products later?

And --- for either/both products --- will you be able to upload all your products via a spreadsheet (including images) AND download a more current list from the database so you can make changes or additions and then upload again, replacing/updating the database content?

This ability to upload/download the database of products is of particular interest. Shopp has a 3rd party importer plugin, but not a download plugin...and from their forum feedback, the importer does not load up the images (maybe folks were doing it wrong...).

Also, if this function is provided - please put in the documentation what the sample CSV/spreadsheet column headings are; provide a template to use with an example of what type of content is required to get a clean upload of product info.

It's not unlikely that once you get the content loaded, later you discover you forgot or were unaware of other content that needs to be included... and of course, new content is already added within the shopping cart interface directly since the upload...and you don't want to lose all that work.

Sherri :-)

Hey Sherri,

At release, Exchange will only be for digital products.  As for what else is coming in the future with Exchange...keep an eye on our blog!   ;)

Thanks for the feature requests/suggestions, I'll pass them along to the developers.

Hi Sherri,
We're super excited about Exchange... and glad to see others getting excited as well.

Exchange will have a Digital Downloads product type shipped with it when we initially launch. We've build the plugin to be very modular and anticipate multiple product types in the future. We plan on adopting the add-on model popular with other ecommerce plugins. We're planning the physical products and import features both as add-ons.
