Before I purchase Backup Buddy, could you please let me know the answer to these couple of questions.

1. We use shared hosting for a lot of our clients that we would like to back up.
Our shared hosting does not allow HTTP Loopback which prevents the WP-Cron being fired.

Will Backup Buddy still perform scheduled backups in this instance?

2. We would like to assume that backups are always running but we need to know if any fail.

How does Backup Buddy handle backup failures and can the failure data be accessed programatically?

Thanks,
Wil.

Hi Wil,

1. WordPress uses HTTP Loopback Connections, so BackupBuddy also uses them. Classic mode can be set though that doesn't use them when creating a manual backup. And there is also the WordPress alternate cron method that can be used to help get around host not allowing loopbacks. Having loopbacks enabled is definitely recommended though.

2. If a scheduled backup fails it can send an email to you that it failed. If it fails while making a manual backup then the status log can still be checked to see why to help know what can be done to remedy that.

Thanks,
-Akers

I like to know before I purchase BackupBuddy if I will be able to migrate my site (localhost on my computer) to move it to an hosting provider? Is it possible with it?
Thank you.

Hi Isa,

Yes, BackupBuddy can be used to migrate a site from one server/location to another, including from localhost.

Thanks,
-Akers
