I have some buttons on my packages page of my website where a client can pay for a product. Right now it's connected to PayPal. How do I go about changing this so that I collect my funds through Stripe using Exchange?

My site is:

Thanks,
Michele

Hi Michele,

The Stripe Add-on is a premium add-on and will need to be purchased.

Once purchased, you can install and activate it like any other plugin.  For more information on using Stripe, check out the codex:  http://ithemes.com/codex/page/Exchange

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Elise

Yes, I have purchased the stripe add on. The thing I'm trying to figure out is how to connect my Pay Now buttons to Exchange so that I can use stripe to collect my funds. I don't know how to connect the two.

Thanks.

Hey Michele,

I'm not sure I understand your question - Are you wanting to use both Stripe and PayPal?  Stripe and PayPal are two totally separate payment gateways; you can't actually connect the two.  You can use them both, but the won't actually be connected.

If you want to use Stripe, you'd enable it in your Add-ons page and the payments would be run through Stripe, not of PayPal.  You'll need to set up your account at Stripe.com and then you'll enter your API keys from Stripe into the Stripe settings in Exchange.

Let me know if this clears up the issue for you or not.

Thanks,

Elise

I have installed Stripe and Exchange. I have four website packages listed on my website here:

http://www.cleanslatewebs.com/packages

I want people to be able to click on the Buy Now button, have it take them to the Stripe interface for me to be able to collect payment through stripe. I don't have a download or physical product. I'm selling a service. Can I do this?

Thanks for your patience.

Hey Michele,

You sure can!

What you'd do is install and activate Stripe with all the information from your Stripe account.  In your Stripe settings in Exchange, you can set the purchase button to read Buy Now or whatever you'd like it to say.

Then, you could create your products (Exchange > Add Product).   You would typically add a download file when you create a product, but you do not have to include a download file.

Then, when your client clicks the Buy Now button, a small Stripe window will come up where the customer will enter their create card information and the payment is processed through Stripe.  It won't actually take the customer to Stripe.com for them to enter their information; they stay on your site to do so.

Hope that helps!

Thanks,

Elise

Ok, it's starting to make more sense. I have set up the Stripe account and entered the API keys, etc.

I think the option I want is to not use the exchange store but my own page which is called Packages. How do I hook up the Buy Now button for each package to Stripe so that people can make the payment?

Hi Michele,

If you go into Exchange > Settings and the Pages tab, you can change the name of the store page and the slug of the page to Packages.  You can also change the page type to WordPress (also under the Pages settings) and then use the shortcode provided on your packages page.

Thanks,

Elise
