Backup Buddy Migration
Posted 09 July 2013 - 12:34 PM
I understand there are many good options to deploy a web site from local to live for the very FIRST deployment, but I'm looking for the best option on how to continue making changes and additions to local, then redeploy to live. Obviously the database syncing is the pain. So....
Say I've already deployed to a live server.
Next I make changes to the local site - things like creating products in CART66, which updates the local db.
Is BackupBuddy capable of updating the live server with the updated local db without the need to work within phpMyAdmin?
Can I pick and choose what can be migrated? For example, since I never want to overwrite the live WYSIJA tables, can I selectively upgrade portions of the live db while leaving other portions untouched?
i hope that makes sense as I am a noob when it comes to db migration. Everywhere I read states work on local/test before launching to live. But I don't see any options that keep the dbs in sync.

BackupBuddy doesn't connect/merge sites, migrating a site puts the source site (a copy of it really) at the destination site and the two of them are separate sites and not merged. So not really expected to work that way.
And for the other question you can set exclusions/inclusions and backup profiles to kind of do that but not on a large scale, BackupBuddy isn't really for merged/connected sites.
