I just went over to sign up and noticed that there was an option to choose a server location. I didn't see an area to click to explain more about this. (I might have missed it?)

What does this mean or do you have a link with more information about this? Benefits, advantages, etc.

Does it really make that much of a difference?

Thank you!

A general recommendation is to pick a server location that's close to where the bulk of your visitors are coming from. For example, a Vancouver, Canada retail store would best be served by locating their server in Vancouver, if for no other reason than the latency will be lower for the bulk of their visitors.

Thanks George! Yep that is correct :), and there can also be a small seo benefit as well since it is one more signal to google you are located in x location. For example we have a lot of clients in Canada who choose one of the 3 locations there not only to improve the speed with which their site loads for their Canadian visitors, but also to just give google one more signal they should rank higher in google.ca etc.

We have a new site coming out soon that has a big explanation too, our current site sucks in explaining more of what we do and we are working on that.

Ping time between locations in Canada and the USA are not going to be hugely different, maybe a 30% to 50% improvement, but for Europe, Asia and Australia that can have a bigger impact instead of going all the way to the USA.
