We’re new to WordPress, recently purchased the Hudson theme and realize now we’ll need BackupBuddy for migration purposes. While looking through the info, I came across the host compatibility page.

According to it:
  • JustHost blocks the command line ZIP command which is required for BackupBuddy's normal functionality.
  • Compatibility mode is available but is only recommended for moving away from JustHost hosting.
We really, really like JustHost and are paid through June of 2016. Apparently we really need BackupBuddy though unless we want to shut down our current webpage while we build the new site on that URL. We can't do that.

I talked to Rustin at JustHost last night. He says they do not block the comand line ZIP command and they'll be in touch with iThemes to straighten this out. We're a little nervous about spending the money on BackupBuddy until we're sure this will work out however. We’re also concerned about spending a lot of time working on Hudson if this is not going to work out.

Have you heard from Just Host yet; and if not, would you please contact them? We really need to get started working on our new webpage.

Hi MaryMack,

I haven't heard from JustHost (don't know who they are contacting) but if they say they allow command line ZIP via PHP's exec() function then that is good. I don't see JustHost brought up in the support forums often so that either means people aren't mentioning the host they are using in those cases, not many use them, or can even mean those that are using them aren't having too many issues. If they now allow exec() then that would clear away the only issue I know of offhand like that.

Welcome to the forums. Be sure to post your questions in the correct forum and don't forget about the new and improved search function located in the top right of the forum pages. The gear/wheel symbol next to the search box will give you more options for advanced searching. Thank you and have a nice day.
