I am in need of a backup solution. I have switched from MySQL to MariaDB and everything is working out great. The only problem is that my Database backup plugin stopped working following the switch. Does Backup Buddy work with MariaDB?

Thanks for your interest in BackupBuddy.
BackupBuddy does not officially support MariaDB. The MariaDB.org site states that MariaDB is a drop-in replacement for MySQL and so one might suppose that on that basis there would be no particular reason for any issues to arise (in the same was as one might suppose this to be the case for the Litespeed web server which is intended as a drop-in replacement for Apache). If the developers are making this assertion then that _should_ be the case, so any issues that were to arise would be due to MariaDB in the same way as this would be the case for Litespeed web server vs Apache.
As far as I know MariaDB comes from the same development stable as MySQL community edition (although you should not take this as definitive and you may have better knowledge of this) and so one would expect that if they were to be looking for it to be widely adopted it would be in their interests to make it fully compatible and not require any software to be modified to use it instead of MySQL.
Please let us know if you have any further question or clarification required in this respect, thanks.
