I'm interested in purchasing Backup Buddy, but before I do so, I must check something.

I have tried services which boast one-click backups and restores (all specifically for WordPress sites) and found that they restore by overwriting the current live files with the files from the selected backup.  What this means is that if, for example, a new file was introduced as part of a WordPress update and I then restored from a previous backup due to an issue, that new file would remain on the server.  What I need is a COMPLETE restore - so that all of the files which make up the site will be exactly as they were when the selected backup was taken - nothing more, nothing less.

Does this make sense?  Is this the way Backup Buddy works?

Thank you,

Hi Sarah,

Part of preparing for a restore is removing the previous WordPress installation, which the new file would be part of.
