Hi Everyone,

I have been using iThemes for 4 months now for my personal blog (<a  href="http://www.reikilotus.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.reikilotus.com</a>). I have done a lot of customizations to the CSS and PHP files and feel that I have a good grasp on the iThemes way.

I am bidding on a new project that will require the building of an eCommerce shopping cart website. Am I better off leveraging my iThemes knowledge and using Builder and perhaps a shopping cart plugin to get this new storefront up and running? Or would I better off not building on top of wordpress and buying a php storefront template?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Ned

Hi,

there are so many parameters that a decision depends on, it's hard to tell. Here's a recent article on integration of the Shopp plugin with Flexx, that may help. It also depends on how much experience you have with e-commerce solutions. And with Builder.

A great alternative is Magento and Prestashop, both non WordPress, and Open Source.

WordPress was never intended or designed to be a framework for a full blown e-commerce solution.

Will the Shopp plugin work with Builder? I prefer to use Builder if possible. Thanks

Yes, it does.

But keep in mind that like with any other theme, there is no integrated search.
