I have a very simple wordpress sire with only 4 or 5 plugins.  I exported SQL database, then imported it to godaddy host, then FTP'd my content folder into it on host.  now I dont know what to do to get site to go live.  i understand backup buddy might do all of this for me.  is that true?  anyone have experience doign this?  or know how I shoudl proceed.  I understand I might just need to change the url in the wordpress settings.

Hi Joshua,

BackupBuddy can migrate (and restore) WordPress sites. To migrate a site with BackupBuddy the process is typically to create a backup of the site you want to migrate, somehow get that backup and an importbuddy.php file from BackupBuddy to the web root of your destination, and run the importbuddy.php script (it will then go through some steps like picking which backup to use that it detects, database information you want to use, watching it import and migrate the database, etc). Then the site is there at the destination once done.

This codex page has information about migration and restoration, and the bottom of the page has links to more pages with information.

Thanks,
-Akers
