My colleague and I are implementing Exchange for the first time. We wish to use the Membership and MailChimp addons.

While we will eventually make numerous kinds of sales, the primary purchase for our customers will be an email subscription, associated with certain other membership privileges.

1. That being the case, how can we make inclusion into our subscription list a default for our customers, rather than an extra box for them to check?

2. Is there a supported way to sell different kinds of subscriptions?

3. Related: from one basic subscription, is there a way to allow our customers to select among numerous kinds of subscription content, whether by topic, or by period (daily, weekly, etc.)?

Thank you, Maureen

Hi Maureen,

Thanks for giving Exchange and the MailChimp add-on a try.  I'll see if I can answer your questions for you.

You can't subscribe people to an email list without their consent in Exchange or the MailChimp add-on.  Nor would we recommend doing so in general, it'd add you to the spam list pretty quick!  :)

I'm not sure what you mean by selling different kinds of subscriptions.  You can create different membership products using the Membership add-on, but if you mean adding them to separate mailing lists based on the membership they purchase, you can't do that at this time.  In MailChimp, you can move your subscribers into different segments.  Think this answers number 3 as well.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

Elise
