I have several websites for different businesses that I own.  The very first website I started was hosted through Hostgator, and I don't manage that site anymore.  Since that time I have started several other websites, but as subdomains of my original site.  They have their own website name, but are managed as subdomains of the original site.  I am wondering if I am damaging my SEO by linking these sites together (as subdomains), and if Google (and other search engines) just look at all of my sites as one large site.  It is beginning to be very important that a couple of my sites begin to utilize good SEO strategies, and I am wondering if my subdomain strategy is a poor one.  My main question is, should I be getting individual hosting for each one of my sites?
