Hi,

Just bought and am testing out the exchange add-ons, I love the invoice module and look forward to seeing it evolve.  A couple of things that I would love to see, not sure if these fit with your vision for the plugin, but to my mind something like this could easily replace the invoicing portion of online paid services like FreshBooks and Harvest, with just a few more features:

1. Itemized invoices.  Right now it seems that an invoice is probably just an Exchange product with special characteristics.  To be useful to me, it would be nice to be able to add products to an invoice, and have the total tallied, so "Widget Polishing $300" and "Shameless Time Padding $500" with the total being $800.  On a related note, I notice that when I go to "All Products," my test invoice is listed there -- I wonder if this is going to cause problems down the road since itf for instance I sold products and services, I really wouldn't want to see my invoices all jumbled together with physical products.

2. I bill companies, not individuals, so having first and last name required is a little odd.  I imagine that I can get around it by adding placeholder names and modifying the invoice templates to not display them, so not a big deal in the larger scheme of things...

3. Custom invoice templates.  I haven't dug in yet so I imagine that this can be done within the plugin files, but it would be great to have something within settings to add and remove fields, make simple layout changes, etc.  Maybe even a place for custom CSS?

4. PDF export.  From the invoice itself, it's nice for clients to be able to save a PDF copy.

4. Estimates with conversion to invoices.  I know this is pretty far outside of the current scope, but freelancers would swarm to you if you could offer a real, simple, itemized billing solution, where as estimate could be created, sent to a client, then converted to an invoice once approved, all within WP and without paying Another Damn Monthly Fee...

Anyway, thrilled to see what's next, Exchange fills a real need for simple but extensible WP ecommerce.

Hi David,
Thanks for your feedback. We're already hoping to do 1 and 4 in the future.

For number 2, we require first and last name because we're creating WordPress users. If I were you, I would use your contact person for the first and last name. You can then use the Template/Theme API or CSS to remove it from the invoice itself.

For number 3, You can currently customize it with the Theme API and Template Parts API but we are planning on adding easier functionality in the future.

For number 5 (your second number 4), This is a great idea. I'll add it to list of requested features but its probably pretty far off at this point.
