I am interesting in upgrading a site from Essence Gold v3.3.2 to the Builder Essence Golden, and before I purchase I wanted an idea of what it will take to update the site. Will everything need to be redone or will most of the contents automatically repopulate? Also, the original Essence had the 3D effect on the home page and the Builder site does not. Is that accurate?  Thanks for your help. The site is bartonacupuncture.com

Hi,

when activating a new theme, your content (= posts, comments, pages, categories, tags, menus etc.) will not be affected. You will have to redo your widgets, as WordPress will move widgets into the "inactive widget" section as soon as a change of theme is detected.

Other than that, I don't see other issues.

And yes, the 3D effect was so specific to having that layout (content block above a widget section) that we had to drop that in order to be able to maintain Builder's flexibility (by not dictating you how to setup your pages).

A little bit more in the Codex: http://ithemes.com/codex/page/BuilderChild-Essence

hope this helps,
Ronald
