Hi -

I have been evaluating the Exchange plugin and am wondering about the IPN capabilities for the PayPal API. As we all know, PayPal only supports 1 (default) IPN. There are various ways to solve this problem:

1. Plugin providers can either use the default IPN or will provide the IPN URL in the transaction query string embedded in the product button which overrides the default IPN URL stored at PayPal.
2. There are custom/premium plugins and services (Zapier, etc.) that allow centralized IPN URL remapping. The user points the default IPN URL at PayPal to the plugin/service, and redirection occurs from there to the target page/site.
3. There are stand-alone code modules (php, etc.) that can do the required IPN remapping based on fields in data payload.

Given this background, my question is as follows:
How does Exchange do its IPN processing? Is there a simple way to add a per-transaction IPN URL so that it is supplied in the query, or does it require that the IPN be set in the user's PayPal account?

I didn't see any way to set up a custom return URL and the config video seems to point to relying on PayPal user account setup with the default IPN URL, but I am still at the surface of the Exchange feature set. That being said, I am hoping that Exchange uses embedded IPN URLs on a per-transaction basis and can ignore the default setting at PayPal.

Thanks for the help.

Regards,

WP

ps. I did not see the "Customer Pricing" add-on in my plugin download list. Can you double-check? Thx.

Hi WildPlatypus,

Yes, we are using embedded IPN URLs on a per-transaction for the PayPal Standard add-ons. I'm not sure why you don't have access to Customer-Pricing (and I don't have access to see), I'll make sure someone else responds regarding that inquiry.

Thank you.

Hey WildPlatypus,

The Customer Pricing add-on has been added to your Member Panel now.  It may take 10-15 minutes for it to show, but you should see it there shortly.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

Elise

Hi - Thanks Lew/Elise,

I appreciate the quick replies and help!  I am going to continue evaluating Exchange. Glad to know that it will generate its own IPN url completions.

Regards,

WP
