The product description is not display with paragraphs.

I've disabled all other plugins and the theme I'm using is a basic barebones skeleton with no styles or anything of it's own

Hi trundlemedia,

The Product Description portion is intended for a brief description, just a couple sentences.  So this isn't unexpected behavior.  You can get around it, however, by wrapping your paragraphs in paragraph tags (<p>...</p>).

You can also move some of it to the Extended Description portion in the Advanced options.  There, you have a WYSIWYG editor which is great especially for things like the dimensions of your product.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

Elise

With the placement of the 2 items on the product page I was under the impression that the "description" was the main "description" and the Extended was just for additional optional info.. since that one's well down below the other stuff..

I'll play around with your suggestion, but since I'll eventually be passing this off to my clients who will not really understand how to add their own html tags I'll try and re-arrange the elements so that the Extended Description is their main Description.

Hi Ronald.. i did include the link in the original post, but that was covered to i removed it..

Not sure why you need this link for this question but: http://www.thecarvededge.com/sitefiles/product/156/

I'd rather not confuse my client with a visible description box they aren't going to use.. so I want to hide it from them in the admin.. that we'll they'll have to use the 'extended description' with the WYSIWYG editor instead

Hi,

the "unformatted" description can be formatted through css, which is what I wanted to check on your site.

To do so, add the following code at the end of your child themes stylesheet style.css:

.it-exchange-extended-description .entry-content {
		white-space: pre-line;
}

which should then format the description as it is entered (without html tags), making it easier to enter such a description,

Ronald

Hi Ronald,  that's the classes for the extended description, which already has formatting to it because it has the WYSIWYG editor.. I changed the product page so that it was displaying that instead based on Elise's feedback.

I just changed it back to the other description and added the white-space property to that class and it appears to be working.. so I think I'm good now, thanks!

.it-exchange-product-description {
	white-space: pre-line;
}

yeah well, I had to do with what I could see at that time, but glad it helped somewhat anyway :)
