Hi Elise,

I saw the code in the codex to add to the archive.php file. Would I need to create a separate archive.php file in the child theme? Or would I change it in the default Builder archive.php?  Getting into the .php makes me nervous .  I was hoping Exchange would manage this better.

I not only want the product image but would also like to remove the meta (author, date, "in categories") information from the archive page.  I know this is on the list for development but is there perhaps a PODS or LoopBuddy fix for this.  The product categories are something that many are going to want to display and it seems quite cumbersome right now.

On a side note, I do notice that if you put the image in the extended description of the product (as I have on the "Holly" product on this page), it shows on the archive page automatically.  Would there be a reason not to do this?  Here's the site I'm currently working on and crossing my fingers that the client won't have a hissy about the way things display.  It's my first "real" experience with Exchange.

Thanks much! :D

Hi Susi,

The archive pages are actually controlled by your theme, not by Exchange.

Did you remove the image from the extended description?  I'm not seeing it on the page you linked to.

You can use LoopBuddy, but at this time, it can't call the Exchange product feature image.  And PODs creates custom post types, so it wouldn't be useful in this situation.

You don't need to create a new archive.php file.  I see you're using a Builder theme, so what you'll want to do is copy the archive.php file in the parent theme, make your changes to the copy and then upload it into your child theme.  That way, when you need to update Builder, your changes won't be overwritten and, if you make any mistakes, you can just remove your copy of the file without any issue.  If you need to make additional changes to how that displays, you can post in the Builder forums.  The moderators there would be better able to help you out.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

Elise
