Ben - are there any plans over at Site5 to set up a staging feature for doing dev work on our sites in a non-live environment... like what Siteground has...

Hi Doug,

We have no plans to offer that, but you can use a number of plugins to do that:

Thanks, Ben

Thanks for you feedback Ben.

The WP Stage Coach Plugin looks interesting... because it can selectively update the live site with ONLY the changes that were made to the staged site. Too bad it is still in Alpha mode.

The other plugins mentioned in the wplift article basically just provide backup and cloning functionality... which BackupBuddy already takes care of for me.

ASIDE: If the Backupbuddy dev group happens to see this thread... here's my vote for adding user-friendly staging features to a future BUB update. Step 1) I clone my site to a subfolder in my hosting account where I can do any dev work in a non-live environment... and when I am done making changes... Step 2) I tell BUB to scan my non-live site and then selectively restore to my live site, ONLY the dev changes that were completed. In a nutshell, that is what the WP Stage Coach Plugin will be offering when their products goes public (minus all of the other functionality that BUB provides, of course).
