Hello,

I have the Stripe Add-on set up in testing mode, but in tests, 2 different credit cards (which should go through just fine) were declined. No idea why.

Can you help me troubleshoot? I can provide a URL and WP login by private message it that would help.

Thanks in advance,
Patty Ayers

Hey Patty,

When Stripe is in test mode, you need to use test card numbers, not a real card.

So, for instance, you can use 4242 4242 4242 4242 for the card number then just make up your expiration and CVC numbers.  You can see the full list of test card numbers here:  https://stripe.com/docs/testing

Give that a try and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Elise

Ah! Ok, thank you. I just ran a test using a testing credit card number and it worked fine -- including the buyer being sent to a Confirmation screen just after the payment is processed - and, receiving an email. Yay!

Still some questions:

(1)  When the buyer clicks "Purchase", he's shown a registration form. When he submits the form, he's returned to almost exactly the same screen, the Product Page, with a message "Registered and logged in as [username]" -- but no other instructions. He's supposed to click the exact same Purchase button *again*, which I'm pretty certain will confuse a lot of people. Is that the expected behavior? Is there any way to improve it - different labels for the two buttons, and some instructions for the buyer?

[EDIT: The two buttons actually read "Buy Now" and "Purchase", but still confusing for the buyer.]

(2) On my Exchange Pages, the Exchange content is missing *all* formatting and hyperlinks. For example, the Account Page content looks like this:

AccountProfilePurchasesDownloadsFree One-Lesson MembershipTest 01 Welcome to your WeTeachWP account, Patty J. The links above allow you to view your purchases and edit your profile.

Any idea how to fix that?

Muchas gracias,
Patty

Hi Patty,

This is the expected behavior.  The first button the customer should see should be the "Buy Now" button.  Then, once their registration or log in is complete, they should see the "Purchase" button.  You can change the label of the "Purchase" button in the Stripe settings, Exchange > Add-ons > Stripe settings.  So, you can change "Purchase" to something like "Pay with Credit Card" if that makes the next step seem more obvious.

As for the other issue, we're kind of moving away from Stripe.  So can you please post your other questions back in the Exchange forum?  And when you post there, can you please (always :)) include a link to your site so I can take a look?

Thanks,

Elise

That would help a lot -- I'll do it. Thank you.

Also Stripe-Add-on-related, I think: I would really like to be able to add a line of text to the Registration screen at the top. I would also really like to add a line of text to the screen that appears after they submit their registration info. Is there possibly a reasonable way to do either of these things?

Most definitely, I will post that question there, and will send a URL by private message.
Thanks very much,
Patty
